My teacher helped to transform my life during a very difficult time for my family and me. She gave me the support and encouragement I needed to turn things around at school.

I came to Kfar Silver because many of my family members graduated from this school. My Aunt came to Kfar Silver through the Naale program, after she made Aliyah to Israel as a teenager on her own, leaving her family in Russia. Later my cousin went to this school, and my brother also graduated from Kfar Silver.

Growing up, I heard great things about this school so I wanted to start studying here too. I began to study here in the 7th grade. I am now in 11th grade, and I am really happy I made the decision to study here.

The school has instilled in me a very strong work ethic. We have something called a work day, where we have the opportunity to volunteer in different areas of the school. We can work at the dining room, where the students eat, and we can work in other places throughout the school like the farm and greenhouse. I milk goats on my work day, and it is really fun. The experience made me appreciate and understand the importance of hard work.

Outside of school, I work a part time job as a waitress and I realize that I am a hard worker and I love to work. I put forth a strong effort in everything I do, whether it is at school or outside of school. I love to study literature, diplomacy, history and English. I work hard in my courses, and it pays off.

My homeroom teacher, Michal, played a big role in helping me succeed at school. Last year my parents went through a very difficult divorce, and there was a period of time when I didn’t come to school because I could not motivate myself to attend.

Michal helped me overcome this difficult time. She knew when to give me encouragement when I needed it. She cheered for me when I came to school and made big effort to make me feel welcome here. My life would not be the same without my teacher. The best part is that she gives no special treatment. She truly takes an interest in all of her students equally. My teacher has made a big difference in my life.
