From sustainability to hydroponics, every day I learn something new about agriculture and environmental science that I never knew before.
I came to Kfar Silver a year ago at the age of 14. I grew up in Rehovot, Israel. My life at home was difficult. While I had many friends back at home, school was not challenging and I did not like the teachers.
When I came to live and study here, my attitude toward teachers and toward learning changed. At Kfar Silver, the teachers respect their students, and because of that, students respect their teachers.
I study agriculture and I love learning about hydroponics and drip irrigation. Every day I learn something new about agriculture and environmental science that I never knew before. To see our plants grow from seeds to fully-grown vegetables is both fascinating and rewarding. Here we learn about sustainability and the latest technological developments in this field. This experience has made me certain that I want to work in agricultural science when I grow up.
I also love being around animals and it is a great experience to work with the cows on the farm. I am able to do something for the cows, and even though they can’t reciprocate, it makes me very happy to know I can take care of them.
I am most proud of starting high school here at Kfar Silver. The teachers and the principal have invested in me, and I have been able to excel in my course work and volunteer work as a result.
