I love agriculture and working on the farm at Kfar Silver. Thanks to this experience, I have the confidence to know that I can overcome my fears and handle myself well when trying new things.
I came to Kfar Silver last year when I was 15 years old. I come from a large Ethiopian family, and I am the youngest of eight children. Ever since the seventh grade, I wanted to go to a boarding school, because I knew it would provide greater opportunities for me.
My life has changed since I have been at Kfar Silver. Last year was very difficult for me, but I have actually improved in my studies since I arrived. My favorite subject is mathematics, but I also love agriculture and I have discovered that it is something I am really good at.
On the farm, I feed the goats and clean the barn. Through this experience, I can work on overcoming my fears. Before coming to Kfar Silver, agriculture was not a part of my world, or anything that I understood. I was afraid to interact with and care for animals. Thanks to this experience, I have the confidence to know that I can conquer something I am afraid of and handle myself well when trying new things.
I am not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I know no matter what profession I choose, I would like to be successful. Kfar Silver gives me the tools I need to be successful in any profession because my teachers believe in me. They truly encourage me and push me in a positive direction. I am fortunate to have really great teachers here. My teachers are always here for me to give me the support I need.
My parents are so proud of me for how far I have come in school. Ever since the beginning of this year, I have turned my life around. I have worked hard to bring up my grades, and I have worked hard here on the farm. This is the first time I have put effort into something, and it is really paying off. I am a different person—a better person because of Kfar Silver.
