Shmuel Sisso: Update on the Israel Fire Emergency

Fire at Kfar Silver

Dear friends,

Like you I have been watching the spread of fires across Israel with deep concern and have been in close contact with our friends and colleagues at World ORT Kadima Mada who are closely monitoring the situation. Our thoughts at this time are with those who have been affected by the fires and I am sure you will join me in praying for their safety and their situations to improve.

Last Thursday emergency services quickly put out a fire in the hay barn at Kfar Silver Youth Village’s farm and there were reports of some teachers having to leave school because of threats to their homes. Also, some students missed some classes because the authorities had forbidden travel to and from their communities.

Still, thank God, our activities have not been seriously affected. However, with emergency services still on high alert because of the dry conditions and high winds, both myself and the Kadima Mada team in Israel and my staff in the London office will continue to watch the situation carefully and update you if it changes.

We are in close contact with the JFNA who are now preparing an emergency campaign to help those affected by the fires and as a partner organisation of World ORT we will of course share with you their communications in case you wish to help.

As soon as we have any significant update on this situation we will communicate it through all our regular channels.

I look forward to sharing happier news with you in the near future,

Best wishes,

Shmuel Sisso
