Yitzchak Rabin High School

Located in northern Israel, Yitzchak Rabin High School is the only secular high school in the under-resourced community of Kiryat Yam. This is the fourth year of World ORT Kadima Mada’s full ownership of the school. Today, Yitzchak Rabin High School is ranked as the top school in Mathematics in the northern region of Israel.

Out of the 840 high school students currently enrolled, many students and their families are olim (new immigrants ) from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia. A majority of students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and single parent households. Teachers support their students by providing extra tutoring hours and free after-school activities.

The school places a premium on giving back to the community of Kiryat Yam. All students volunteer their time and complete 180 hours of volunteer work over the course of three years. Volunteer opportunities include learning ambulatory and emergency medical services, spending time with Holocaust survivors, partnering with individuals who face visual or hearing impairments, and mentoring at after-school centers.
