Welcome to Israel! Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and travel north to Haifa with the group. Anticipated arrival at the Dan Carmel Hotel by 6:00 PM.

Stimulate your senses and enjoy a welcome dinner at an inviting winery. Here you will learn about Israel’s burgeoning wine industry, which produces millions of bottles of wine per year. Tantalize your taste buds with a wine tasting and gourmet dinner as you get acquainted with fellow travelers.

Wednesday, May 20, 2020:

Experience two of ORT’s most transformative programs in the North. First, visit Kiryat Yam, home of ORT’s Alex and Betty Schoenbaum Science, Education, Sports and Cultural Campus. Here you will meet with a community partner in the tech or defense fields where Kiryat Yam students participate in community programs.

Then visit one of ORT’s after-school YOUniversity Programs in Nahariya. This interactive after-school enrichment program offers students exciting STEM experiences in dynamic environments. Courses including aerospace, physics, forensics, architecture and robotics help students excel and consider careers in these professions.

Thursday, May 21, 2020:

Begin the day with a security briefing on the border, followed by a visit to the Entrepreneurship Hub in the Tefen Industrial Complex in the western Galilee to see how ORT partners with local industry to shape a needed workforce.

Next, visit Kfar Hasidim Youth Village. Lunch and learn with ORT students, who will share their own stories of transformation, and the educational opportunities made possible with support from the ORT Michigan Region. Tour the Davidson Sports field, the Farber Auto-Tech Center and more.

Drive to Jerusalem and enjoy the energy of Thursday night that marks the end of the work week. Enjoy a free night to explore Jerusalem’s popular street food and local hot spots.

Experience Jerusalem before Shabbat begins as locals fill the shuk and enjoy their weekend. Choose from a diverse range of engaging opportunities, from a Jerusalem neighborhood walking tour to a museum visit, and more to be confirmed.

Welcome in Shabbat at an inclusive dinner with fellow ORT supporters from around the world who are convening in Israel for the 2020 World ORT General Assembly.

The World ORT General Assembly begins!

Highlights include:

  • Guest speaker Dr. Lior Zoref, an ORT graduate and author of the bestselling book, “Mindsharing – the Art of Crowdsourcing Everywhere,” will discuss how “We are smarter than me,” as he explores how to innovate and lead with the power of collective intelligence.
  • Presentation of the World ORT Strategic Report, and a networking workshop hosted by Jimmy Salinas, ORT Mexico Director.
  • Under the Stars Celebratory event marking 140 Years of ORT with special guest, Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel. Take in beautiful views of the Old City walls and enjoy an orchestral performance that reflects ORT’s historic presence around the world, including music from Russia, Israel and Latin America.

Monday, May 25, 2020

Take part in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Palmachim Airbase, a high-tech military facility and spaceport that embodies the spirit of the Start-up Nation.

Spend a memorable afternoon at Kfar Silver Youth Village, a day and boarding school for at-risk youth, fully owned and operated by World ORT. Tour the expansive 60-acre campus, located near Ashkelon, just minutes from the Gaza border. Visit classrooms and dormitories, explore the farm and experience what it’s like to live, eat and study at Kfar Silver through the eyes of our students.

In the evening, 1880 Society members are welcome to attend an invite only cocktail reception and dinner. Others will have dinner on their own.

Hear from guest speaker, Avi Dichter, Member of Knesset and former Head of Shin-Bet.

Movie goers unite! Take a front row seat at the premier screening of the ORT 140 documentary film and celebrate our milestone anniversary.

All good things must come to an end. Join the group for a return flight, which departs from Ben Gurion Airport at lunch time.
